Add Shell Pillows To Complete Your Beach Décor

If you have a pacific décor in your room with an ocean or seaside theme, a few shell pillows will add the finishing touch. There are many pillows sold that have shells on them, including starfish, conch, nautilus, or others. Many shell pillows are rectangular in size and have feather fillings, which makes them great to use for therapeutic purposes such as for cervical or lumbar pillows.

Some of the more elite companies that sell shell pillows offer decorative designer shell pillows in natural color linen with silk screen shells or one large shell on the pillow. They also have designs that feature colors that are often used in coastal décor. Some of these feature aqua and white with various shells placed in the middle. An aqua linen pillow with a nautilus shell would look great with a natural linen background pillow with sea stars in aqua scattered on it. An entirely different look could be achieved with a deep green shell pillow featuring a large star fish or with a square white pillow that has a brown conch on it.

Since the outdoors is so important to the coastal décor, there is a large selection of outdoor shell pillows. Most of these can be used indoors or on the patio or deck. They are often made in colors of white, blue, aqua, and neutrals like tan, brown, and white. An interesting combination for an outdoor chair or couch in a seating arrangement would be shell pillows mixed with another pillow that featured fish, lobsters, or other sea life. Many of the outdoor pillows have piping around the sides in a contrasting color.

For those who prefer a traditional look, there are shell pillows for them as well. One company makes four different styles that each has the same background that has scrolled letters spelling out “Ocean and Beach.” There is a life preserver, a lighthouse, a sailboat, and other coastal symbols on the off white background. A large shell is featured on each pillow in colors of brown, tan, and red. There are also red stars on the pillows to tie in with the other touches of red in the design.

Another style of shell pillows that are perfect for a traditional décor are shell needlepoint pillows that definitely have a handmade look to them. One set of pillows has four or five different shells on a neutral beige background. There is fringe around all four sides of the square pillows. Also, there are colors of aqua, red, green, and white that would add color to any room that they are used in. Another style without fringe around the pillow is made of blue linen and it has a star fish in the middle. There is rope around the star fish and shells on all four corners.

Some shell pillows that coordinate with bedding sets are specifically made to look great on a bed in a bedroom with a seaside theme. These pillows are a medium blue color with off white shells imprinted on them. They are made in either square shaped or little rectangular shapes. The small rectangular shape would add comfort to anyone who likes to read in bed or who likes to sit and talk on the phone. These are made of 100% cotton.

Seashell pillows can also be in the shape of a shell. Some of these are shaped like a conch and other types that would look good in an arrangement of three or four different types of pillows. If you really want to carry the seaside theme into the bathroom, there are also inflatable seashell pillows that are made for lounging in the bath. They could also be taken on an airplane for extra comfort.
